Abstract
The main goal of this thesis is to create an understanding about the positive impacts and challenges in the implementation of sustainability in tourism. The paper uses boutique hotel Alma del Pacífico located in the Pacific coast of Costa Rica as an example to generate a better comprehension of how green practices are exercised. Touching upon a wide span of topics ranging from environmental importance, economic impacts, repercussions on local communities to the challenges and advantages of going green and utilizing the countries general overview of its tourism industry as a model. Concluding that it is in fact of great importance to implement sustainability in the hospitality industry.
