Abstract
The hospitality and tourism industry are one of the key actors of the GDP. In fact, it covers about 23% of the entire GDP of Croatia. Due to this fact, the English language has become more and more crucial. Moreover, the English language has become a dominating language used in hotels, as well as in restaurants and tourist guides. This paper analyses the relationship between hospitality and language and the importance of proper language usage. Morover, it will also focus on other challenges facing Croatian hospitality such as employment, waste management and sustainability. Waste management is a continuously important issue focused on, and the importance of hygiene and HACCP will be analysed. Furthermore, modern management styles are required to fulfil the satisfaction of a stay in Croatia to push the GDP further and, therefore, focus on the correct issues. Through a case study involving professionals working in this area, the paper aims to focus on current hospitality issues and the possible solutions presented further.
